Australian champion Victoria Veitch of EMBA Ozone Cleaning Specialists has won the Point d’Appui in the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under, finishing 30th among a field of 59 survivors.
Veitch finished 2 minutes and 4 seconds behind leader Valentina Scandolara of Orica-AIS and more than 20 minutes ahead of the Lanterne Rouge, Jasmine Mcmillan of Specialized Securitor. Veitch was very near the fulcrum on the first two stages but moved into 30th place on Stage 3. She maintained her placement during the final stage, a 70-minute-long critérium in the city of Victoria, but more than two dozen riders either did not start Stage 4 or did not finish, bringing the center of the peloton to Veitch.
Rebecca Wiasak of High Five Dream Team, who finished 54th overall, had the time closest to the median.
