Kashechkin Back on Cusp of Tour

Andrey Kashechkin slipped a spot back but remains on the cusp of the fulcrum after Stage 15. He was joined by Vasili Kuryienka.

Glossary

cuspides – The two riders on the cusp of the peloton's center, usually awarded when an even number of riders finish on the day

fulcrum – The English word for "point d'appui"

Hafnium Medal – Like the gold, silver and bronze medals offered by the Olmpics, the Point d'Appui confers the Hafnium Medal upon the middle finisher.

lanterne rouge – The red lantern — the lantern on the caboose of a train — is an appellation of dubious honor, awarded the last rider to finish the day

maglia rosa – The pink jersey, awarded to the leader of the Giro d'Italia

maillot gris – The grey jersey, awarded to the leader of the point d'appui

maillot jaune – The yellow jersey, awarded the leader of the Tour de France

point d'appui – The point of support; the rider who finishes at the middle of the peloton when an odd number of riders finish on the day
